According to data released by the South Korean Bureau of Statistics on the 14th, for the first time in 2023, the number of workers aged 60 and above in the manufacturing industry in South Korea exceeded the group aged 15 to 20. According to South Korean media, this has intensified concerns about the aging of workers in the South Korean labor market.

The Korean Times reported, citing data from the Department of Statistics, that in 2023, the number of employees aged 60 and above in South Korea's manufacturing industry reached approximately 599000, an increase of approximately 51000 from the previous year. At the same time, the number of workers aged 15 to 20 in the manufacturing industry was 555000, a year-on-year decrease of 33000. This marks the first time since 2014 that the number of elderly workers in South Korea's manufacturing industry has surpassed that of young people.

Affected by the low birth rate and aging population, the elderly have become the "main force" in the South Korean job market in recent years. In 2023, 366000 new jobs were created in South Korea by people aged 60 and above, significantly higher than the number of new jobs created by the 30-something and 50-something age groups. At the same time, the number of new employment opportunities for the population aged 15 to 29 decreased by 98000-- Shenzhen Hanlize Technology
